  This is an historic church in the teaching of non-violence. The Rev. James Lawson held many of his workshops here prior to the 'sit-ins' which swept Nashville in the early sixties, leading the Rev. Martin King to say, in an address at Fisk University, that he came to Nashville to learn...Currently, 9.2014, the church has two Sunday services, with breakfast between and lunch after. It has two pastors, male and female, both of which are talented and thoughtful orators and Biblical scholars.
  
  It has several choirs which rotate between various services, and a Wednesday morning 7AM service, which provides a midweek source of energy and survival to many, including this worshiper, Howard M Romaine
